SMILE Scholarship

The SMILE (Scholarship Made for India’s Less-fortunate Entrants) scholarship program sponsors students from underserved populations who can barely afford basic necessities of life. Yet, these students are extremely motivated to get through high school, with high scores. With proper education, these bright and passionate students can go to college and break the cycle of poverty their families have experienced for generations.

Lily Foundation encourages the recipient families to help others in their community in any form while they receive help from the foundation.

For High School Students

Selected high school students (grades 9-12) are awarded a monthly stipend of Rs.1000/-,Rs.1500/- throughout their high school years. The award is based on both need and merit. Annual academic achievement based on grades and overall academic progress determines award eligibility for the following year. A mentor evaluation report based on mentor assessment helps us track the student’s general progress and activities during the year.

For College Students

Selected college students (starting from first-year college) are awarded a monthly stipend of Rs.2000 / Rs. 2500/- depending on the tuition requirement of their field of study, throughout their college years. The award is based on both need and merit. Annual academic achievement based on grades and overall academic progress determine award eligibility for the following year.

The student is asked to return half of the award money in zero-interest easy instalments beginning one year after graduation by which time he/she is expected to be employed. The money repayment is utilized towards another future student’s stipend.

Sponsorship
A special long term sponsorship program has been set up, where an individual can sponsor a seat in high school for five, ten or twenty years starting at just $1200 [Rs.60,000/- for India]. Please contact us to learn how you can get involved.
